Melanie Brewster

Melanie Brewster trained as a Clinical Physiologist through the NHS going on to work as a specialist audiologist for the NCB and War Pension Directorate.
She set up her own occupational health firm in 1994 following a request from the British Brick sector developing a bespoke classification system for noise health surveillance whilst launching a specialist hearing conservation program based on the fragile cochlear concept.
Melanie bought her concerns around Occupational Health audiometry clinical standards and interpretation to the HSE shortly after 2005. She has campaigned tirelessly for a new classification system supported by her MP for several years.
Melanie is an advocate referencing ISO1999 and ISO7029 when interpreting audiograms under CNWR2005 and has several published papers on the subject. She is an active ISO working group member and specialist trainer for The Society of Occupational Medicine.
Melanie will identify the usual audiometric features of NIHL and demonstrate how to classify atypical or complex findings.
