Jo is a Registered and Chartered Occupational Psychologist, co-Managing Partner at Affinity Health at Work, Professor of Occupational Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London, and co-Director of the London Centre for Work and Health. Her work focuses on preventing avoidable harm and promoting worker and organisational health, through systemic, evidence-based approaches that equip workers, managers, employers and health professionals with shared tools and strategies. Jo’s applied research and consultancy have led to the development of frameworks such as IGLOO and manager behaviours for preventing and reducing stress, now embedded in national guidance from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Acas, and Society of Occupational Medicine. Her research has been funded by the World Health Organisation, the National Institute of Health and Social Care Research and the UK Health and Safety Executive, as well as public, private and third sector organisations. Jo’s work is underpinned by a commitment to combine research rigour with practical impact, she publishes extensively to share evidence-based tools and insights for sustaining workplace health and wellbeing.
