Global Workplace Health and Wellbeing Expert

Richard’s areas of interest include Business Health and Risk Management Strategy, Culture of Health, measuring wellbeing and business outcomes, Employee Health Benefits, organisational change, workplace mental health and wellbeing.

Richard trained in general medicine and is an accredited specialist on Occupational Medicine, leading health strategy for global energy company BP until 2022.

He is currently an expert advisor on health, work and organisations to World Economic Forum and RAND Europe. He is a visiting professor of work, health and organisations at the University of Surrey and an independent member of the Industrial Injury Advisory Council for the Department of Work and Pensions.

Until 2022 he was Vice-President Health at BP, with global responsibility for approx. 65,000 employees in 65 Countries; prior to this, he was Global Head of Safety and Risk Management and had other leadership roles at Astra Zeneca. He is past President of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.

In his free time, he enjoys running and jazz.
