Roger Cooke

Roger is an Occupational Medicine consultant who qualified in medicine in 1975, and undertook specialist occupational health training with the National Coal Board and British Telecom before becoming Chief Medical Officer for GKN.  He has worked as a consultant in the NHS, and as honorary senior lecturer at Birmingham University Institute of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (IOEM), For its first 5 years he was chair of the SOM Special Interest Group in HAVS, and served as chief examiner for HAVS for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. He was part of the team providing an occupational health module on the international MPH course at the French national school for public health.

Although officially retired in 2017, he currently works as a consultant in occupational medicine, including medico-legal work  providing evidence for civil litigation and prosecutions relating to HAVS, CTS and other upper limb issues.  He is due to complete a Masters of Law (LlM) degree in autumn 2025.

He is author of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome: a guide for occupational health practitioners and has contributed to 12 other books, and written over 60 peer reviewed articles in medical journals.
