Rupali Das

Rupali Das, MD, MPH, FACOEM

Dr. Rupali Das is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Division of Occupational, Environmental, and Climate Medicine, University of California, San Francisco, and Senior Vice President and Medical Director at Zenith Insurance Company. At Zenith she provides guidance for appropriate delivery of medical care to workers while balancing business process needs. Dr. Das is a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) Board of Directors and Past President of the Western Occupational and Environmental Medical Association (WOEMA) and founder and chair of WOEMA’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee.

Dr. Das received her MD from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and her MPH from the University of California, Berkeley. She completed a fellowship in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at UCSF, is board certified in Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine/Occupational Medicine and is a Fellow of ACOEM

Dr. Das has held numerous leadership roles with the California state government, including Executive Medical Director of the Division of Workers’ Compensation, California Department of Industrial Relations. At the California Department of Public Health, she directed programs to track and reduce occupational illnesses and injury and led Biomonitoring California. At the California Environmental Protection Agency she helped to set standards for air pollutants and response to chemical releases.

She has published on a wide array of topics and is a recipient of the WOEMA Jean Spencer Felton Award for Scientific Writing. She

She is proud to be a board trustee of Cal Performances at UC Berkeley, promoting the

performing arts and exploring the connections between science and the arts. In her spare time, she loves to garden and travel.
