Dr Marisa Rodriguez-Carmona studied Physics at Imperial College London before earning her PhD on Variability in Chromatic Sensitivity at the Centre for Applied Vision Research, City, University of London. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Optics and Visual Science at City, St. George’s, University of London where she leads the Physics and Optics modules.

Her research focuses on sex-related differences in colour vision and the optimisation of colour assessment protocols in both clinical and occupational settings. A key area of interest is establishing evidence-based colour vision standards for safety-critical professions. Dr Rodriguez-Carmona has collaborated with several regulatory and safety bodies, including the Civil Aviation Authority, Transport for London, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and most recently, the Rail Safety and Standards Board.
