Dave Knight
Dr Dave Knight (MBChB, MMed, FCPHM(SA)) is an occupational and public health specialist who works internationally, across different industries, as a consultant and corporate medical advisor. He works principally with International SOS and Corporate Medical Advisors, but also privately and holds an academic post at the University of Cape Town. He was lead investigator of a recent large study on silicosis in the Southern African underground gold mining industry and has an ongoing research interest in the epidemiology of silicosis and occupational lung disease. He also has interests in heavy metals toxicology and malaria control. He has worked on remote sites and in corporate offices. He currently advises on occupational and corporate health programs for a variety of multinational companies with operations across Asia, Americas, Africa, Australia and Europe. He has advised the International Council of Mining and Metals on silica dust and co-authored guidelines for them on Malaria, HIV and TB. He is a member of the Society of Occupational Medicine (UK), the South African Society of Occupational Medicine and the International Commission on Occupational Health where he sits on the sub-committee for TB and Silica-Dust Exposure.
