Dr Martin Tohill has been working as a consultant in occupational medicine in Belfast Trust since January 2022. He has an established career in the NHS and as an executive director of wider occupational health and wellbeing services. He is the only employed consultant in occupational medicine in the NHS in Northern Ireland.

Dr Tohill is a senior educator,  regional specialty adviser, training programme director and a GMC recognised trainer. He is an examiner for both the Diploma and MFOM, a member of the BMA Northern Ireland council, and a member of the Faculty Board Ireland

Dr Tohill has trained a number of NTN trainees and supported and supervised a number of portfolio / CESR doctors who have all successfully gained CCT.

The last NTN Trainee appointed to the training scheme in Northern Ireland was in 2013 and the training scheme was ended by the Deanery in 2019.

Dr Tohill has developed a strategy to reintroduce deanery supported occupational medicine training in NI and will present this at the Conference. He looks forward to it.
