Professor Paul Lian

Professor Paul Lian is Clinical Lead and Consultant in Occupational Health and Wellbeing at the Exeter Occupational Health Service, part of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and the University of Exeter Occupational Health team.

The Exeter Occupational Health Service was the inaugural recipient of the Society of Occupational Medicine’s ‘Best Occupational Health Team’ award in 2019, reflecting its commitment to excellence in service delivery.

Professor Lian is actively involved in research and academic work and holds the title of Honorary Clinical Professor at the University of Exeter. He is a co-author of the forthcoming edition of Fitness for Work: The Medical Aspects, contributing chapters on Drug and Alcohol at Work and Blood-Borne Viruses.

He is recognised for his expertise in occupational medicine, particularly in the field of vaccinations and substance misuse. He chairs the UK Faculty of Occupational Medicine working group on Alcohol and Substance Misuse in the Working Environment, which has recently completed updated national guidance.
